The former psychiatric hospital Lapinlahti
First of its kind in Finland. Established in 1841 and run
until 2007, last patients left in 2008. Since then it was
empty, until Lapinlahden Lähde started its activities in 2016.
A center for culture, art and mental wellbeing. Activities
are initiated and coordinated by the Finnish Association for
Mental Health and Pro Lapinlahti Association.
A contemporary art gallery driven by the artist collective
KUNST. The gallery had its first exhibition in June 2016.
Aim of the picnic
The Gallery Picnic taking place in the gallery during the exhibition of Kristiina Karsten, Veera Inkeri, Kabybara-ryhmä and Jaakko Tornberg in PELKO (FEAR) exhibition room. Intervention in the form of a picnic with mediated discussion with the artists’ invited.
