“I’m afraid of walking in a dark forest. I’m scared that I will fail or that something bad will happen to my loved ones. I’m scared of a fire and violence. I’m scared of being alone.”
Fear unites and is the same everywhere around the world. Through art, it is easier to open up and get the squirming fears from inside to a more concrete and manageable form. Teenagers from Namibia and Finland tackle the roots of their fears and from single images, a bigger picture is formed. A map which the viewer can use to explore their own scenery of fear.
”I’m scared that…” is made of drawings, paintings and texts which go with them. A dialogue and pictures have been done by 14-18 years old teenagers about their own fears. From a trip made to Namibia in the autumn of 2013, an art work studying the emotional life of youth has been created. Löytty has spent her childhood and teenage years in Namibia herself.
